Why Porto — Why now

DKV Mobility is building a new Data & AI Center of Excellence in Porto.

Porto stood out from various different locations for our Tech Hub.

Amazing tech talent & tech community

It has an amazing Data, AI and Software Engineering talent pool, which is continuously growing thanks to the great universities in Porto and the surrounding cities. In addition, Porto has a strong tech community with plenty of meet-ups, conferences and everything in between.

Future orientation

We are a family-owned company that has continued to grow over the last years — a path we are continuing on. We want to drive the transition towards an efficient and sustainable future of mobility. That is our purpose, and with Porto's orientation towards the future, its knowledge of what is new and where the current trends are heading, we can fulfil it.

Culture

DKV Mobility has its headquarters in Ratingen and many more subsidiaries across various European countries. We are used to working internationally, and we are looking forward to welcoming colleagues from Portugal into our international community.

Modern tech culture & collaboration

Tech culture is a lot about little hierarchy, ideas being heard and people taking ownership — this is exactly what we want with our Tech Hub as well. We are eager to hear your ideas and to see how we can implement them, however big or small they may be. We cannot promise that we will implement all of them, but we promise to listen and to figure out together which parts can be implemented how.

As Techies, this won't be new to you: we used to work in Scrum for the last years and most teams still do. We are in the process of loosening some of that. We will continue to work agile, but depending on the team and the work they do, this may be Scrum, Kanban or another agile framework.

International teams

Your colleagues will work all over Europe. Most of our Techies, Data & AI colleagues are based in Ratingen (Germany), Bucharest (Romania), and now, of course, Porto. We mostly work in a virtual set-up, with experts distributed over the different countries.

However, company and team culture is important to us, which is why we encourage everyone to travel to the other locations a few times per year to enable direct team connections. If you always wanted to visit Germany and Romania — here is your chance.

Continuous learning

Learning is part of life and work alike. Especially the tech community is usually pretty eager to learn, and we highly support that. With us, you can learn at your own speed, for example with Udemy or our own internal training catalogue. On top of that, we are more than happy to discuss trainings or certifications that keep you and us close to the latest tech trends.

We are a company that moves at high speed, so learning is crucial to stay on top of things. In full honesty: if you don't want to learn something new, we might not be the company for you.

We strongly believe that a great office is the foundation of a strong culture, helping us to drive the transition towards an efficient and sustainable future of mobility.

While we are still finalizing our office in Porto to offer the perfect work environment for you, we start our journey in the offices of our strategic partner Capgemini, located in Vila Nova de Gaia.

We are already in negotiations about our own office space, so stay tuned: We hope to have great news soon!
